Bio-business/Marketing Internship

May 19 – July 25, 2008

4 Openings

**Students are responsible for their own housing and transportation.**

Explore an internship with Novozymes Biologicals, the world leader in the research, development, and application of microorganisms. Our enzyme and biological solutions are a cleaner and greener alternative to chemicals. Our technology supports a variety of industries including industrial, institutional, consumer, wastewater and plant care. Located in the scenic Roanoke Valley of Virginia, we are convenient to both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Virginia Tech.

Our internship program is very important to the continuing success of our business while affording the student the opportunity to apply his/her academic skills in an applied scientific setting. We offer students a real-world internship experience where their work is challenged and given serious consideration for the appropriate business decision.
Students will work together as a team to develop two comprehensive market studies that include existing technologies, market drivers, costs, market size, unmet technical needs, new product recommendation, value proposition, and distribution alternatives. The student team will have approximately one month to work on each market segment before presenting their research and market penetration recommendations to Management. In addition to the basic market analysis, the students will be responsible for developing a marketing plan. Novozymes will then integrate the student’s market analysis information and market penetration recommendations into actual strategic plans for developing these markets. The total internship will last for approximately 10 weeks, with students investing one month into the development of each market analysis.

Most internships are paid ($3,000 for internship), and interns are required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement. Interns are expected to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the length of the internship and must be available to complete the entire internship. Those unable to meet both criteria are ineligible.
